The WV-10 project is located between Taplin and Earling in Logan County, West Virginia. The project covers a 2.01 mile segment of WV-10, along with associated access roads and includes clearing, erosion control, excavation of 2,812,450 cubic yards, storm drainage, wetland mitigation, piling walls, MSE retaining walls and a bridge. Environmental aspects of this project are significant because it if adjacent to the Guyandotte River. Before construction started, it was necessary to build an additional 1-mile access road. The extremely steep terrain along with hard sandstone rock excavation presents challenges beyond the normal range of job conditions. The completed project will improve access from Logan to Man.
