The "Fairmont Connector Interchange", consists of a modern 4-lane highway containing several "round-a-bout" intersections which allow for a much more efficient and unimpeded flow of traffic to the downtown, college and northern areas of Marion County. Also included are walking trails and bike paths as part of the plan to provide for a greater array of transportation options. When complete, this project will link Interstate Interstate 79 with downtown Fairmont.
Some of the major items include: 220,000 CY Excavation 40 EA Structure demolitions 1,200 LF 66" CMP pipe 6,700 LF Various sizes of HDPE pipe 145 EA Concrete inlets 12,800 LF Various concrete curb & gutter 1,300 LF Granite curbing 6,500 SY Concrete sidewalk
Also included are several hundred tree and shrub plantings, several thousand square yard's of brick pavers, asphalt paving and bus shelters. The project runs through an existing residential area, so there are also various amounts of gas, water and sewer relocations.
